July is here and I have committed myself to getting the first draft of the fourth book in my C’Mon Inn Mystery series written. I work better with a deadline and Camp NaNo is a great way to do this, at least for me. 50k words in 30 days. I can do this!
My goal is 2500 words a day for 20 of the 31 days in July. That is normally realistic for me, it gives me days off when I just can’t write or have guests or doctor appointments or just other plans.
It also means this blog will be quieter than it has been in the last couple of months. I will still be publishing the Friday Foto Flash challenges (as well as the Sunday Photo Fiction on that site), but unless I already have a story pre-written and scheduled, I won’t have time to write new stories.
I will try to post an update every now and then as to how I am doing. This book will cover the backstory for the Thompson Twins, Betsy and Anna, as well as a possible wedding for Lucia and Ray. Factor in a hurricane, a rash of thefts, and several friends from the earlier books dropping in – well, it should be a fun write and hopefully read.
Thank you.
Best wishes in your endeavor, DB!
Good luck to you!
I loved Nano in November, but the Camp in April just fell flat for me.
I’ve blown it the last two times…but really need the push this time around. It’s going to be tough, already day four and 7000 words behind schedule. Eeek!
