What goes up, must come down.

Yes, the rollercoaster of life. We made an emergency trip to Florida where my youngest brother’s wife was in her last stages of metastatic pancreatic cancer. We had a couple of good hours with her, shared some memories, and gave out a ton of hugs and love.

Hubby had planned to attend his annual Retired Firefighters Reunion in Orlando, so that was where we went next. I wasn’t in the mood for much socializing, but did see a few old friends I’d met at previous reunions.

Writing? I’ve barely kept up with getting my newsletter out on time. We got home and got the news my sister-in-law had passed. Not much of a motivator. We made it home in time to start planning and packing for our next two weeks of cruising. We leave this Thursday and will get home in mid-March.

Yes, I hope to get some writing done on the cruise but not guaranteeing it – HUGE new ship, lots of things to see and explore (and taste). But I plan to try my best. Once home, it’s time for the final gathering of tax stuff to send to our accountant. How does the time go so fast?

I hope all is well in your world…

  1. A gal I used to work with is going to be on the Mardi Gras at the same time as you! Small world!!!

  2. I am so excited for you. You are living your best life with your loving husband. Go you!

  3. We’re scheduled to be on the Mardi Gras in mid-May! I can’t wait! Have never been on one of their really big ships! I’ll have my laptop and my Alphasmart with me and hope to get some writing done. ENJOY and takes lots of pictures for those of us living vicariously through you in this yucky weather!

  4. Will absolutely take pics – I’m even taking my camera and not just my iPhone. LOL! I just upgraded to an iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard and hope to be able to use it on our transatlantic trip in 2023. So far it’s working good but this trip it will be my MacBook Air for sure. Still hope we get to cruise together some time!

  5. I’m so sorry about your SIL. I Don’t have any that count (only have that 1 anyway) but I am in the Era where my cousins are leaving us. My oldest cousin lost the fight to glioblastoma about a year ago. But I do keep touch with her daughter and sister. Losing family is so difficult 💔 😪. My heart is with you. But we do hope you and Stu have an amazing time vacationing. Take good care of yourself. We are so glad that ugly covid left you so you can go. 🤗💞💞💞

    1. Thanks so much – I’m the oldest in my family so when we lose someone, it seems even harder. But it’s the circle of life, like it or not. Hugs!

  6. I am glad y’all are having a great time with the cruises. Did I mention I am slightly jealous? 😉 Ah, I will get my chance later (I hope!) Writing is good but experience beats it – with lots of pictures and loads of memories! Have a spectacular time! Love y’all! 🤗💖

    1. Thanks so much, this cruise is even more special because it’s the namesake of my first (only) cruise with my late husband. I know we’ll have a great time!
