This is a serialized story – be sure to read in order: from A (afterthought) to Z (zealous).
Courtney didn’t move. “I mean it. Why are we here? Your scare tactics may have gotten me to come along, but I need to know more.”
“Not now. We have to keep moving. Please, Court…”
She sighed. “Fine, but are we almost there?”
Nash motioned her to be quiet and crept forward. The sliver of light reappeared and he paused in front of a stone wall. Reaching out, he traced the letters.
“What’s it say?” Courtney moved up beside him squinted, trying to get a clearer view.
“I’m trying to make it out. It probably doesn’t mean anything.”
“Then why waste time here? Don’t we need to get moving?”
“No, wait. They said there would be clues. This could be it.”
“Why would someone engrave letters into a stone wall for you to find?”
“2RTHN3L”
“Huh?”
Nash repeated himself. “2RTHN3L”
“What does that mean?”
“Quiet, I need to think.” Nash continued mumbling the numbers and letters to himself. “I’ve got it. Well, I think I do. We need to take two rights then three lefts.”
Courtney shivered. “This building gives me the creeps.”
“You should be used to it, being a big shot P.I. and all…”
“Maybe, but there’s a different feeling to this place.”
As to enforce her words, a strong wind whistled down the hallway followed by an eerie whistling.
To be continued…
Thank you.
Intrigue builds as Nash and Courtney navigate mysterious clues in this gripping serialized tale. With each step, the tension mounts, leaving readers eager for the next chapter’s revelations.
Awww, thanks! When I read some of these back, I wish I had edited more but this is unedited unless a typo pops out. LOL!
Good coded clue – good interpretation…
Let the games begin!
Creepy. I am not sure I would go with him!
I know the feeling!
It’s hard to write this type of serialized story, and you are doing it with minimal editing? That’s as exciting as the story is. Alana ramblinwitham
I’m doing no editing. Hubby does one read through and lets me know if he says a typo. I know some slip through as well as awkward sentences, but I’m committed to not editing at this point.
Nancy Drew would have loved that clue.
Funny thing, I’ve never read any Nancy Drew books. I grew up on Trixie Beldon books.
