Now that the April A to Z Challenge is done, what am I up to? Well, since I’m taking a hiatus from writing for a bit, I’ve committed (to myself) to do one chore a day. At 77, that’s more than enough. Not that our home gets that dirty and our robo-vac keeps the floors clean, but some things need a bit more upkeep than they’ve had the last couple of years.
I even bought a couple of things to make this easier! An awesome tool for cleaning ceiling fans (no stools/chairs/ladders for this gal) and a rechargeable scrubber for our shower (that has multiple heads so can be used elsewhere). I’ve now used both and they were great helps.
Of course, there are the daily emails, blogs to catch up with, and social media to read (and sometimes post to). Oh, and bills and family stuff and medical things… The list goes on and on.
But I’ve also found time to do some binge TV watching. Most of it silly sci-fi stuff, some fantasy, a little mystery, and a touch of romance. I’ve even watched several foreign series that have been dubbed. Since I can hear them, I don’t have to watch them much. LOL! I’ve fallen in love with the Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix and really hope it gets renewed.
I would love to write the final two books in the Red Line Coffee Shop mystery series, Grandes & Grenades and Talls & Tasers, this year but no promises. Right now, my writing mojo is on vacation. Heck, maybe I’ll even take some time to read!
Thank you.
Good luck with those chores! I have a bunch on my list too.
They’re never-ending…
I can hardly wait for the next mystery but but charity begins at home and every home as well as those in it need TLC.Enjoy your down time. 😊Kat
Thanks, Kat. Keeping my fingers crossed that my writing mojo returns!
Sounds like a reasonable schedule not too unlike my own. Thinking about writing more–or some other project.
Lee
Thanks, Lee. Sometimes life just has to intervene…
Enjoy your writing sabbatical, play with the dog, enjoy watching the deck building, RELAX!!
I’m working on it! LOL! Thanks…
Hi Donna, I came over after seeing your comments on my posts. I think I did visit a couple times during the challenge. Well done on finishing. I think we all should celebrate and take a rest, although a dear elderly friend used to always say “A change is as good as a rest.”
Yes, change is good. My change is buying a new laptop. LOL! Thanks for stopping by…
One chore a day sounds about right. I’ve been binge watching Guy’s Grocery Games. It’s such a happy, upbeat show.
We used to watch that all the time. I really liked it. I’ve been binging silly sci-fi/fantasy disaster movies & series. LOL! Today it’s really funny (and vulgar) series on Amazon – Deadloch. It’s a hoot!
I made the mistake of thinking I was a younger man recently. I gave myself the chore of cleaning out the garage. I chose a Saturday, got myself a cheap little dumpster rental, and ignored my wife’s advice of asking our boys to swing by and help. Just glad she didn’t tell me, “Told you so,” on the way to the hospital to get my back checked out. Slipped a disk so now I am on rest for the next couple of months. I will definitely be checking out the Dead Detective Boys. Any other Netfilx recommendations for crime junkie with a bad back?
Ouch! I completely understand the thinking you can do what you used to do – without help. I’ve finally given in to that and now ask a lot more than I used to. Hope your back recovers fully and quickly!
Dead Boy Detectives is more fantasy than mystery, very quirky, and yet interesting. Lots to choose on Netflix. We’ve always enjoyed the Harlan Coben ones: https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/81180221
If you like quirky, try The Tourist. If you haven’t watched it, Longmire is a great series with six seasons. Marcella is excellent, Monk is now available, and many more that I can’t think of right now. LOL!
I’ve always been a sedentary person but now I am saying to myself that time is increasingly precious. And one of those things that seem to be getting in the way is – blogging, something I’ve enjoyed for years. Maybe my mojo is evaporating, but I don’t want to lose the small community of those who read my blog. I would say, enjoy what you are enjoying now. If it’s silly TV binge watching, why not? You’ve earned it.
I know but it’s hard. I’ve been a type-A, perfectionist, motivated person all of my life. It’s hard to not feel guilty when I’m doing nothing. LOL! Hubby keeps telling me there are no “Get Busy” police. LOL!
