A to Z of Small Delights, Simple Pleasures, & Significant Memories

Fabulous Small Delights, Simple Pleasures, & Significant Memories…

  • Fall: My favorite season, probably from growing up in New England. I remember jumping into piles of leaves with my cousins, taking walks down the dirt lane my grandparents lived on and smell the rotting leaves, enjoying all the fall colors on the trees.
  • Fleece: My hubby laughs at me, I can’t pass fleece in a store without touching it. I have always worn a lot of fleece in cooler weather but admit to transitioning more to wool now.
  • Fresh rain smell: Stepping outside and breathing in deeply, so wonderful.
  • Fireflies: Not sure why we don’t see them here in TN, but growing up they made for wondrous summer nights.
  • Fireplace: I miss having a fireplace. Admittedly, gas is more convenient, but I love them both. I’ve had them in a couple of houses, sigh…
  • Flashlight: Yes, a flashlight being where I needed it is a fabulous thing!
  • Facebook: Good or bad, no matter our opinion, I am thankful for a spot where I can stay in touch and up to date with wide spread family and friends.

  1. I’ve never seen fireflies – one day, perhaps! Two of my favourite sounds are a baby’s giggle and a small child, maybe three years old, talking to his or her toys.

    1. Awww, fireflies as so amazing on a warm summer evening after dark. And you’re right, a toddler talking to their toys is always a joy!

  2. I enjoy the fall season, though being in California, it can still be nearly 100 degrees in late September.

  3. When I lived in East TN I used to see the fireflies every summer. The Oak Ridge Atomic Energy Lab would pay people (usually kids) to collect them and sell them to the lab for research. Don’t know where in TN you are, but I hope all that collecting didn’t diminish the population.

    1. We are about an hour away from Oak Ridge. I suspect the reason I don’t notice them here is not enough outside time (any time of day). LOL! Thanks for dropping by, Arlee.

  4. I love that Facebook gives me a platform to keep in touch with younger family members and their activities. FB allows me to share the joys of travel with friends and to keep in touch with those at a distance. Bah Humbug to those who despise social media without even trying it.

  5. Fireflies and fresh rain smell, from your list of simple pleasures.
Where I stay (Mumbai, India) I can’t imagine having a fire place, but a fan is a must need. And wish hot flashes driving me crazy, having a fan right above my head or in front of me is a blessing! 😛

    1. I hear you. I have little 5″ USB fans on my desk, night stand, and end table. AND I always carry one when I travel.

  6. Taking a walk after it rains or opening the windows to take in that fresh rain smell. Petrichor is the “fancy” word for it and it’s my favorite word.

  7. Fall is tied with Spring as my favorite seasons. I love the sweater weather and Foliage.
