I’m trying something new, an idea I got from a friend’s blog. Thank you, Shilpa.
This will be a sporadic post. I’d love to see you join in!
- People, upon meeting me, assume I am an extrovert. In reality, I am either an ambivert or an over-achieving introvert. Thanks to my professional career, I can chat with new folks in most environments. But I do get peopled out and need to hibernate to recoup.
- I love to help others when I can. Often it’s just online advice nowadays, thanks to age and living in the country. Back when online forums were newer and there was no Facebook, I was active in several motorcycle groups. While I didn’t have any mechanical expertise, I was very good using Google to find answers. So good, one person accused me of being a know-it-all. In reality, I just wanted to help.
- I love watching action/adventure movies/shows. But you know that point when the main character is in a dicey situation and you know they’re going to get caught (but you also know they won’t be killed because they, you know, are the main character)? The suspense builds and I can’t stand it. I either do something else, cover my eyes, or leave the room. Strange? Yup!
- I’ve loved green olives since I was a child. We had major holiday meals at my paternal grandmother’s house and she always put out a relish tray. My cousin would demolish the black olives, and I’d clean up the green.
- My first non-babysitting job was slicing up onions in a roadside stand that sold onion rings. And yes, I cried. A lot. My next job was as an after-school cashier at the local Woolworth’s store. I did that until my senior year when I moved to waitressing at a local diner.
Love to hear some random facts about you, my readers!

Thank you.
Thank you.
My father used to put out a relish tray at Thanksgiving and I’d eat the green olives too.
Still a favorite in our house and I fully admit to drinking the juice.
This is an interesting and amusing post, Donna. 🙂
I loved reading about you, getting to know you a little better. I too need to hibernate to recoup, recharge my batteries in “my space” after spending time with people.
Oh, and sometimes, when watching horror movies, if the scene is getting to be real scary, I too cover my eyes ;P
I remember my late husband watching a movie and I suddenly realized it was Nightmare on Elm Street. I sat on the floor with my back turned and ears covered. LOL!
LOL!
My hubby likes the green olive juice in his martinis. I steal the olives. My first non-babysitting job was as a page in our local library.
Welcome to another olive lover. What did you do as a page in a library?
Put away the books people returned and helped check out new ones. That was the VERY old days when everything was done by stamping the cards and putting them in the books. No computers then!
Ah, small town library, they only had student volunteers from the high school. Thanks! I do remember card catalogues and the cards being stamped. Good memories.
Hey Donna! I am visiting here from Shilpa’s blog. You can hold me responsible for starting the ‘Random facts about me’ string 🙂
I am a fellow introvert who can show signs of being an ambivert in a group of familiar people. But then I tire out soon and find ways to run away to solitary confinement. I am with you on covering the eyes while watching thrillers or horrors. Once my family took me to the theatre to watch a horror comedy and I ended up listening to the whole movie because my hands were over my eyes most of the time 😀 😀 I would have loved to take up any role in a library.
Welcome to my blog, Anamika (beautiful name). I hope you follow along and enjoy my writing as well as my silly posts.
No 3 – and yet I bet you write such cliffhangers all the time…
Who me? LOL!
