Today’s random prompt is “Write a scene in which characters eat a cherry tart.”
“Look out! It’s dripping!” Cheryl giggled as she watched the cherry filling slowly ooze downward from the tart her boyfriend was attempting to eat.
“Hmm-nn-um…” he responded, his hand outstretched beneath the pastry.
“You missed it. And…” she searched his clothing, “it landed on the floor. You’re okay.” She stared in fascination as another drip descended from the treat. “Here it comes. Move your hand to the right. No, the left. More left. More…” She extended her hand in the hopes of catching it if he missed.
PLOP! A large gob of cherry landed in the middle of her palm. As she grabbed a napkin to wipe her hand, the filling slithered through her fingers and came to rest in the middle of her new white shorts. “Nooooooo!” She scowled, knowing the stain would never come out.
Oblivious to her plight (and mood), her boyfriend asked, “Thanks for saving me. You want a bite?”
She grabbed it out of his hand and laughed. “I’ll take it all, thank you.”
