Here is my contribution to this week’s Friday Fotoflash prompt.

This wasn’t his first but he feared it would be his last. He was finding it harder and harder to walk the distances needed between events. His vision was fading, he already couldn’t distinguish between colors. Everything was gray now. The hardest part though, was his hearing was going. Soon he wouldn’t be able to enjoy his own music nor the music of the world around him.

He stood, waiting where he had asked them to meet him. His daughter and grandson were to escort him tonight and his grandson would play the flute beside him. In the morning, his daughter would return home and his grandson would remain. His new apprentice.

Life would go on and the music would continue. It ran in their blood and that made him smile.
