“Pull over there, the brick restaurant!”
He parked and they rushed inside, the door slamming behind them.
Seeing no one they shouted, “Anyone here?”
“In the kitchen!” was the reply.
Hurrying behind the counter and into the kitchen, they saw almost a dozen people huddled in the center of the room.
“Are we safe here?”
“Safer than out there,” replied someone wearing a shirt with the restaurant logo.
“What about the freezer?”
The worker shook his head. “There’s no safety open once inside. Management refused to pay for the upgrade.”
The wind howled louder, sounding like the proverbial freight train. Debris broke through the front windows.
It passed as quickly as it had arrived. Everyone was safe and now hungry.
Life goes on…
Thank you.
