It’s almost April and I’m doing it again – the April A to Z Blog Post Challenge. Phew! I need to pick a theme and have been tossing around several ideas. I admit to considering Flash Fiction, I’ve done several years of that. But I’m just not sure if I have it in me this year. But what else would work for this website?
Hmmm…flash it is. Well, sort of… I just need to figure out my rules…
My first thought is to create a serial story – using a list of words I obtained from a random word generator site. I will start a story incorporating the first word (A), continue the next day with the second word (B), and so on. When I’m done, I should have a complete short story (or maybe a bit longer).
What do you think? Can I do it? Would you read it?
Here are my words, selected today.
I sense a dark story… mystery, murder… a little of who knows what…
Thank you.
I like your “random word” idea!
Great idea! Can’t wait to read your story.
Stopping in to take a look at your theme and wish you a happy March and a wonderful April. Can’t wait to read more during April! ♥
Got yours on my follow list!
It would definitely be easy enough for you as a talented writer to slip in every word on your list I would think😏.Kat
Looking forward to this!
I would definitely read it, as I have been reading your blog in previous years. I like the random word idea. If it works,I might consider trying it next year. See you in April.
Hi Harvey – your blog is now on my list to follow. Going to be a fun year for sure!
That’s a great idea!
I haven’t seen Barbie yet, will be interesting to read your posts.
This looks fun, I would definitely read it. There are some pretty interesting words on your list.
I’m slowing writing each day now and I still don’t know where the story will end up…LOL!
Interesting selection of words and theme. Good luck!
Ronel visiting for Theme Reveal for A to Z Blogging Challenge 2024
I appreciate it, Ronel. It’s definitely going to be a challenge.
It’s an interesting list, and got me running to a dictionary to look up xyster. You already have me wondering how I would handle that list. Yes, you can do it. Good luck! Alana ramblinwitham
There are only so many X words to choose from…not sure how it will work into the story yet.
I think it would be a great read!
Thanks, Marion. Hope you enjoy it…
Thank you ALL for your comments – it’s appreciated. I plan to start dabbling with this over the next week. Phew! It could be fun or it could be a terror!
I have been debating on whether to do the A – Z thing this year but your idea of using a random word generator is really interesting…Hmmm…
Go for it!!!
Love a good dark murder mystery! Some interesting words there too
Debbie
I have no idea where the story will go, I’ll just type. LOL!
Hmmm… that’s quite a selection of words! Good luck!
A-Z Challenge: Magical Botany
It would be easy to do a flash story for any of the single words. The challenge will be to end up with a story. Eeep!
It definitely sounds like fun! 🙂

Just peeked at your reveal – wow! What a challenge you have picked. My grandparents were in that generation, all gone for some years now. I will enjoy checking out your posts from time to time.
I think it looks a little dark too, but I bet it’s gonna be fun. Can’t wait.
Cheers,
Barbie
It’s starting out a bit on the dark side – but you never know how things will end up, do you…LOL!
Great theme choice for the A to Z challenge! Looking forward to the rest of your alphabet journey!
My topic (here: https://gritandgrace2015.blogspot.com/2024/03/atozchallenge-theme-announcement.html ) may not have as much appeal for everyone, but I’m going to give it a try 🙂
I’ll have to share that on my personal Facebook page. I know several folks are or have homeschooled. Good luck!!
This sounds like so much fun! I love the random word generator idea to keep it challenging. I can’t wait to see what you post!
Thanks, Torie. I just hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew. LOL!
Fantastic theme you’ve chosen for the A to Z challenge! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the next letters of the alphabet.

Oh my, a mystery! I’ll have to stop by and see how you handle this. Good luck!
Exciting theme reveal! I’m looking forward to following your A-to-Z journey throughout April. Best of luck with the challenge. I’ve restarted my blog and deleted all the old content since I’ve been away for about 10 years and am coming back with the A-to-Z Challenge, hopefully it’ll give me some blog theme motivation and some dedicated readers. My theme is here: https://illusionsofchaos.blogspot.com/2024/03/hello-again-atozchallenge-theme-reveal.html
Just visited your site, left a comment, clicked follow, and added it to my blog reader. Should be interesting…good luck!
Love this idea! I might borrow it as a writing exercise for my writer’s group.
It would definitely work for that, I loved using it. Previously, I just used words that popped into my head for each letter. LOL!
Good luck! Can’t wait to follow along….
I just it isn’t too weird when I finish…the story is a bit, um, odd so far.
